What is Yin Yoga?
Yin Yoga is a slow, gentle style of yoga that focuses on deep relaxation and stretching. Unlike more active forms of yoga that build heat and strength, Yin invites you to slow down, be still, and turn your attention inward.
In a Yin class, poses are held for longer periods of time usually between 3 to 5 minutes. This allows the body to gently release tension and target the deeper layers of connective tissue, such as ligaments, joints, and fascia. The result is improved flexibility, better joint mobility, and a sense of ease in the body.
But Yin Yoga is about more than just physical benefits. It’s also a deeply calming and meditative practice. As you settle into each pose, you’re encouraged to focus on your breath and observe your thoughts without judgment. This creates space for relaxation, mindfulness, and emotional balance.
Yin Yoga is suitable for all levels, including beginners. There’s no need to be flexible or experienced this is a practice that meets you exactly where you are. Props like cushions and blankets are often used to support the body, making each pose comfortable and accessible.
